Kakamega Homeboyz's prolificacy from set pieces not by chance - Muranda

Kakamega Homeboyz assistant coach Eric Muranda has said that the team's prolificacy from set-pieces is not a thing of luck but a product of hard work and investment in that particular aspect in matches.

In their most recent outing, Kakamega Homeboyz saw off Ulinzi Stars by a solitary goal courtesy of Brian Eshihanda which was a result of a well-taken set-piece by Stephen Wakanya.

While making reference to that goal, Muranda noted that the team has spent so much time training for set-pieces and getting goals from such situations was a reflection of their investment.

"This season we have scored many goals from set-pieces. That is not by chance because it is something that we have invested in so much this season including time and energy in training. It is something that we have trained on and it is not by luck. Getting that one goal and defending well to the end to carry home three points was the effort of the players. . It was a tough game considering it was the second on the road and we traveled a lot," he said.

The win last week saw the Kakamega-based side open an eight-point gap at the summit of the log, something that Muranda says was part of their plan as they aimed to bounce back to winning ways.

"Now we have an eight-point gap and that was our aim. We went into the game with plans of bouncing back to winning ways after the loss to Bandari and wanted to win and solidify our lead at the top," he added.
