Captain Moses Mudavadi handed Homeboyz the lead in the first half before Joseph Masibo restored parity for the Law Enforces but Shafik Batambuze ensured Abana Beingo quickly recaptured the lead to deliver all three points for Patrick Odhiambo's charges.

With the season entering a defining stretch, the stakes were unmistakably high.

Homeboyz stepped onto the pitch knowing anything short of victory would dent their push for top honours.

For APS Bomet, languishing in the relegation zone, the clash represented an opportunity to rewrite their narrative and claw their way toward safety.

The visitors began with intensity and purpose, dictating tempo in the opening exchanges.

Just three minutes in, Philip Wasai rose highest to meet a well-delivered set piece following a foul by Boniface Onyango on the edge of the area, but his header drifted narrowly wide.

Five minutes later, Bomet came agonisingly close again.

Defender Edward Masebe unleashed a stunning 25-yard free kick that beat goalkeeper Ibrahim Wanzala, only to be denied by the crossbar as the ball ricocheted away to safety.

Homeboyz responded in the 12th minute through skipper Mudavadi, who reacted sharply to John Omondi’s delivery and powered a header goalward, but Masebe produced a crucial block to keep the scores level.

Bomet continued to press with former Homeboyz attacker Hillary Otieno nearly haunting his previous work station. Pouncing on a loose ball, he directed a fierce shot just inches wide of the upright.

Moments later, Anthony Naibei’s pace down the left flank caused further problems, but he agonisingly missed from close range after connecting with Otieno’s delivery.

Despite Bomet’s dominance, it was Homeboyz who broke the deadlock two minutes before the half-hour mark.

A well-crafted move initiated by Rodgers Ouma sliced through midfield, finding Eston Omengo, whose deft touch allowed Batambuze to loft an inviting ball into the path of the onrushing Mudavadi.

The captain made no mistake, guiding home the opener to hand the hosts a crucial lead.

Buoyed by the breakthrough, Homeboyz nearly doubled their advantage through Peter Thiong'o.

The former AFC Leopards skipper latched onto a Mudavadi layoff but fired wide from close range. Glen Masava also came close later in the half, glancing Rodgers Ouma’s incisive pass just off target.

Before the break, Pistone Mutamba spurned a golden opportunity, narrowly missing a diving header from Thiong’o’s inviting cross as Homeboyz went into halftime holding a slender advantage.

The second half burst into life almost immediately.

Two minutes after the restart, Joseph Masibo soared to connect with Kevin Mogaka Mogasa’s corner, powering home a header to level matters and spark wild celebrations among the travelling supporters.

Yet Bomet’s joy proved short-lived.

Homeboyz responded emphatically through Batambuze, who stepped up to take a free kick and delivered a moment of pure quality.

The Ugandan defender struck a sublime effort that sailed past Maxwell in goal, restoring the hosts’ lead and shifting momentum decisively.

Thiong’o nearly extended the cushion seven minutes past the hour mark but was twice denied inside the Bomet box.

The visitors, however, refused to fold. Francis Omondi came close with a powerful drive from distance, while Hansel Ochieng’s near-post header forced a sharp reaction save from Wanzala.

Oliver Majaka also threatened late on, combining neatly with Omollo before sending a low drive narrowly wide.

Despite sustained late pressure from APS Bomet, Homeboyz remained defensively resolute to see out the contest and secure three vital points.

The victory lifts Homeboyz to 38 points, consolidating their position in fourth place and keeping their title aspirations firmly on track.

For APS Bomet, the defeat compounds their struggles as they continue to stare at the harsh reality of relegation in their debut top-flight campaign.

Elsewhere, Mara Sugar returned to winning ways with a convincing 3-1 triumph over bottom-placed Sofapaka.

Goals from Dennis Cheruyot and a brace by Alex Imbusia ensured the Kilgoris-based side claimed maximum points on home soil.

The result lifts Mara Sugar to 28 points in 11th position, significantly strengthening their survival bid.

For the 2009 league champions Sofapaka, however, the setback marks yet another blow in a difficult campaign, leaving them rooted at the foot of the table and in urgent need of a turnaround.
