Juve under UEFA investigation again

This time, the Italian giant has allegedly breached Financial Fair Play rules

Almost every major club tries to bend the rules — finding ways to outsmart or bypass Financial Fair Play regulations. Some get caught, others don’t, and a few slip through the cracks. Juventus, once at the center of the Calciopoli scandal, found itself under UEFA scrutiny again a few years ago for lesser violations — and, clearly, learned little from the experience. The club was caught once again, and during the 2022/2023 season reached a settlement with UEFA. Although Juve finished seventh in Serie A and should have competed in the Europa Conference League, it opted for a one-year suspension — effectively accepting a ban from European competitions. While such a punishment is not currently on the table, the club has once again been caught in murky dealings.

UEFA has reopened proceedings against Juventus, this time over alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play rules. The issues in question relate to player wage reporting and income declarations. Juventus has received official confirmation that an investigation is underway, and due to certain irregularities in its financial maneuvering, a verdict is expected in the spring of 2026. Before that, UEFA will determine the severity of the violations and which specific provisions apply. The investigation covers a three-year period, and in the worst-case scenario, the Old Lady could face a transfer ban for the 2026/2027 season.

That said, the Turin club could also get off lightly — with just a financial penalty, which would be far less damaging. Juventus has acknowledged the investigation but also stated that its financial operations for 2024 and 2025 fully comply with regulations and that the club is committed to maintaining fiscal stability. Current player-related expenses and salary structures reportedly meet UEFA standards, but earlier financial irregularities could soon come back to haunt them.
