The prolific forward is the main subject of talks between his agent and the club's board. His current contract expires in 2025

Monza and Juventus face off in the opening game of the Serie A matchday 14 on Friday night, but the Turin-based favourites are more concerned about another whole topic - Federico Chiesa's renewal.

The prolific Bianconeri striker is close to extending his agreement with the club, although the talks between the parties have been going on for the last few weeks without any visible success.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, one of the most recent dialogues on Chiesa's future seems to have generated some encouraging signs. It was a meeting that took place between the Bianconeri technical director, Cristiano Giuntoli, the sporting director, Giovanni Manna, and the player's agent, Fali Ramadani. Nothing significant from the official point of view, but what emerged was the will to go all the way.

Per those reports, the 26-year-old forward won't leave the Old Turin Lady in any case in 2025, when his current contract is about to expire. The minimum both sides are willing to commit is a contract extension of a further year with salary adjustment. These are the bases on which the parties will return to discuss in the coming weeks.

And when it comes to the Monza tie, it will be their only third Serie A meeting. It's interesting, though, that the underdogs won both of those fixtures last season.

Moreover, Monza are unbeaten at home in the Serie A this season, drawing four of their six games. They have conceded just four times in their last eight home games in the Serie A. Juventus have lost just once in the Serie A this season, with that loss coming against Sassuolo in their away game in September. Interestingly, they have kept clean sheets in their other five away games. Six of the seven meetings between the two teams have produced under 2,5 goals.
