Former Harambee Stars forward Paul Mungai Kiongera is now running a successful football academy in Canada, Mozzart Sport understands.

For many retired and active footballers and indeed sportsmen and women, one of the biggest headaches is planning for life after retirement.

Well, as for former Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards striker, Kiongera, the plan started early and he is now living it through his football academy, Future Ready Sports.

In videos shared on the academy's Instagram page, the former KCB FC forward is seen conducting training sessions on the pitch as well as issuing instructions to the budding talents.

The academy is based in Toronto and is composed of kids from Germany, Italy, Tanzania, and Kenya among others.

For Kiongera, the journey began during his active playing days when he realized that his career would come to a premature end due to a niggly knee injury and therefore started pursuing his coaching badges.

Backed by his Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from Kenyatta University, the 36-year-old had a CAF C diploma licence by the time he was leaving the country for Canada.

Additionally, the Friends School, Kamusinga alumnus also holds a diploma in Psychological Development of Athletes and a Level 1 coaching badge from the Barcelona Academy.

All these credentials have primed Kiongera to be an all-round youth coach even as he scales the heights of his coaching career.

In one of the videos on the former Simba SC striker's Instagram account, he is heard coaching and giving tips to a young forward in his academy on how to be a better striker.

“As a striker, no one will give you space. You have to create your own space by your movements. You quickly approach the ball and then create a passing angle to receive the ball…”

For a player who had a decorated career, Kiongera has a lot to offer to upcoming footballers.

The growth of the 2013 CECAFA winner in coaching is not only beneficial to his career but also to the country as it increases the number of top, young coaches in the country who will be tasked with aiding the development of football.
