Mulili has seen the preferred tag fall from his grasp after Ingwe signed Levis Opiyo on the last day of the off season transfer window

AFC Leopards young goalkeeper Maxwel Mulili has vowed to put up a fight and give head coach Patrick Aussems a selection headache when it comes to the number 1 jersey at the club.

Following the mass exodus witnessed last season at the twelve time Kenyan champions, Mulili found himself as the preferred custodian after the trio of Benjamin Ochan, John Oyemba and Ezekiel Owade all left the club forcing the former Zoo FC loanee to step up his into first choice goalkeeper for a number of opening games in the 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League.

However, Mulili has seen the preferred tag fall from his grasp after Ingwe signed former Gor Mahia and Wazito man Levis Opiyo on the last day of the off season transfer window as the club opted for experience.

Since Opiyo came in, Mulili has not seen any game time at the club as he has been relegated to second fiddle, the young prospect revealing that will double his efforts in training to try and counter the current situation.

“Levis Opiyo has all the experience needed for the position in the team but I will work even harder not to make it any easy when it comes to the coach’s selection in the goalkeeping position. I will keep putting my best foot forward and soon I want to get back to the starting eleven and feature for the team,” the player told to Mozzart Sport.

The player also stated that overcoming the five game losing streak had lifted the mood at the club after some doubt started creeping into the team.

“Winning a game then recording draws in the next games afterwards gave us a lot of confidence because when you look at the last five matches, we had lost all of them and that really made the team morale to go down. But currently, the mood has changed and we are positive about ourselves,” the player added.
