Diego Avila of Ecuadorian side Gualaceo scored a stunner that caused our jaws to drop heavily

You all know about Rene Higuita, right? Once flamboyant Colombian goalkeeper, known for his connections with drug cartels, immaculate goalkeeping skills and some out-of-this-world saves, like the one against England in a friendly back in 1995 when he executed that famous 'scorpion kick'.

Well, apparently, Higuita is not an isolated case when it comes to those scorpion moves in South America. Years later, an Ecuadorian guy called Diego Avila recreated that bit of magic, only this time in front of the opposing keeper.

It was the Ecuadorian first-division tie between his mid-table slot Gualaceo and the minnows Cumbaya. Gualaceo were one up almost straight from the kick-off, but it was Avila who wrapped around the half an hour mark.

The 28-year-old forward launched a staggering shot that Cumbaya's custodian had absolutely no chance of stopping. Higuita, you've got yourself a true inheritor.
