Ingwe welcomed their younger brothers, Kakamega Homeboyz, in an FKF Premier League match staged on Saturday, 6 April at the Dandora Stadium, with the latter winning 2-1.

Homeboyz produced a remarkable comeback after Victor Omune gave Leopards the lead in the eighth minute, with the visitors equalizing through Moses Shummah before halftime, as Henry Omollo slotted home the winner in the 84th minute.

Speaking to the media after the match, the former Kenya Police FC head coach revealed a weakness of Ingwe that he capitalized on.

“We played a draw at home where we equalized in the last minute which signified their defensive weakness. They cannot defend well for 90 minutes and so I told my players to keep playing and believing even after going down,” said Baraza.

Leopards were dangerous on the flank in the first half and produced numerous attacks from those areas, but once homeboyz blocked those pathways, victory was close.

“In the second half, I made amends to my team, especially in my defense line, which was shaky, and when the boys sealed the wide channels where Leopards were using and were dangerous, I knew we were going to win,” he added.

The former Chemelil Sugar tactician also disclosed what it took to shake off the heavy 4-1 defeat the team suffered against Shabana on Sunday, 2 March at Gusii Stadium.

“I talked to the boys. I spent most of my time talking to the boys and giving them instructions, and they responded well.

I told them it was good that we lost early enough because it made them know that we can lose when we don't work,” he stated.

For Baraza, the strategy is now approaching every game at a time as the season nears its end.

“Now it is just to push players to ensure we keep performing well in all the remaining matches.”

Homeboyz are sixth on the league table with 38 points ahead of their next league match against Bandari FC on Wednesday, 9 April.
