Abana Abeingo faced Sharks in an FKF Premier League match on Sunday, 18 May, at the Dandora Stadium, with Homeboyz emerging 2-0 winners.

Speaking after the match, Baraza outlined the difference in the two teams' squads that gave Homeboyz an edge over the William Muluya-coached side.

“Sharks have fairly young players compared to us, and so when you give an experienced player time and space, they will know how to utilise it, while for young players, they will be excited with keeping possession, and that was the difference.

Sharks had many touches on the ball while for us, we needed two, three touches to reach the final third and create goal-scoring opportunities, as was the case in the second goal,” said Baraza.

Despite the win, Baraza lamented the long miles that his side has had to endure in recent times in order to honour matches.

“We have been on the road mostly in recent weeks, including travelling to Mombasa, back to Kakamega and then back and forth to Nairobi, which is so tiresome, and despite the fatigue, my players gave their all.”

Since joining the club earlier in the season, the former Kenya Police FC tactician has guided Homeboyz to fourth on the log and an unbeaten home record, an achievement he is proud of.

“When I joined, my target was to ensure the team remains in the league. From our performances, the discussion has changed, and so as it is said in football circles, ‘Let everyone win their games’.”

The former Chemelil Sugar coach also expressed gratitude for the collaboration that allowed the team to turn around their season, which started on a low.

“The management, my technical bench, the players and fans have all been instrumental in our good run, and after managing to ensure we are unbeaten at home, I can see we can also be unbeaten away from home.”
