Football Kenya Federation secures three friendlies for Stars ahead of their final qualifier matches
Harambee Stars will gauge their readiness for the remaining 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in three test matches against South Sudan and Tanzania who they will play in two legs.
Stars sit third in pool G of the qualifiers with three points from four matches and are set to host record African champions Egypt on March 22 before traveling to face Togo in the final match on March 30. Stars played Egypt to a one- all draw in the first leg played in November 2019 in Alexandria and recorded a similar result against Togo the same month at the Kasarani Stadium.
Kenya will play her first build up match against South Sudan on March 13 and later confront Tanzania in back-to-back matches with the first one set for March 15 and the return leg coming three days later.
The Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee coached team has a minimal mathematical chance of qualifying for the finals set for next year in Cameroon. Stars can only book a slot in the final should they miraculously beat Togo and Egypt and pray that the latter and second placed Comoros lose their remaining matches.
