Harambee Stars will head into Lome, Togo for their final clash of the African Cup of Nations using a chartered flight.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa has revealed that Harambee Stars will book a chartered jet for their dead-rubber clash against Togo in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Harambee Stars and Togo will both be playing for pride in the clash as Egypt and Comoros have already booked their slots in the 2021 AFCON finals from Group G.
Mwendwa explained that there are no direct flights to Togo from Nairobi, Kenya forcing the Federation to book a chartered plane to Lome.
“The team will leave the country on Saturday using a private jet to Lome, so we won’t have flight connection challenges to West Africa as it has been the case before, we are building a team for the next 5 or 7 year to come,” said Mwendwa in an interview with KBC.

This will be the second consecutive away clash that Harambee Stars will book a chartered plane after hiring one for the Coromos that ended in a deflating 2-1 loss.
Harambee Stars are currently in a rebuilding phase having dropped the old guard including former skipper Victor Wanyama, Johanna Omolo, Eric Johanna and Ayub Timbe snubbed in the latest squad selection.
Mwendwa noted that Harambee Stars is feeding valuable experience to the young squad ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“For us, we are using this young team to focus ahead and we are preparing for 2022 FIFA World cup qualifiers which starts in June, we are going for nothing less than making it to the knockout stage of our group,” added Mwendwa.
Kenya are placed in Group E alongside Mali, Uganda, and Rwanda with only the top team proceeding to the Third Round where only five teams stand a chance in the World Cup finals.
