Guirassy's brace enough for Dortmund win
Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 31.08.25. | 20:48
Borussia secured an easy three points against Union Berlin
Third time lucky for Serhou Guirassy. And, by the same token, for Borussia Dortmund, as they celebrated their first win of the season at the former “Westfalenstadion.” A regular customer came to Dortmund and continued the trend of regular defeats in that city. Union Berlin held out until near the end of the first half, and then the persistent Guirassy finally adjusted his aim properly and, with two goals, orchestrated the triumph of the black-and-yellows – 3:0.

Union Berlin has never before managed to take even a point from Dortmund. That trend continued tonight. Dortmund’s new defender, Anselmino, started the match, and since the team kept a clean sheet it could be said he did his job well, though at one point, due to a misunderstanding with the goalkeeper, he almost handed the visitors a goal. The central figure of the match was Serhou Guirassy. The Guinea striker kept missing in the first half – until near the end. He had a great chance in the 23rd minute, when he intercepted a poor back pass to the goalkeeper, but somehow failed to react, hesitated, and the sitter went begging. Just two minutes later he had another big chance, only for the Berlin keeper to come out on top.
7 - Serhou Guirassy scored in his seventh Bundesliga match in a row - for Borussia Dortmund, only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in 2015 (10) and Robert Lewandowski in 2013 (12) managed to score in more consecutive Bundesliga matches. Guarantee. #BVBFCU pic.twitter.com/WOGC588JQ8

Guirassy’s third-time-lucky moment arrived in the 44th minute: Couto sent a cross from the right into the six-yard box, where the Guinea striker shoved aside his marker and hit the net. Midway through the second half the visitors’ defense fell asleep, Beier and Guirassy exchanged a one-two, and the powerful striker went through one-on-one with the keeper. He had all the time in the world to pick his spot and chose well – 2:0. That was the end for the Berlin side; no matter how much Dortmund can sometimes self-destruct, this time they calmly saw the match through. Felix Nmecha even managed to run onto a rebound and send the ball into the net for the third goal.
