Guirassy could be benched against Frankfurt

The Guinea striker scored his last league goal in September
When the Bundesliga season started in August, only Serhou Guirassy could keep up with Harry Keane with goals. The English captain is a top scorer in Germany but the Guinea striker was also at the top. But as the time went on, Guirassy started to struggle and totally went down. At the moment, Kane is still the top scorer in Bundesliga with 12 (after 8 rounds), while the Guinea striker has only four and is 10th on the list, with many other players (defenders including) ahead of him. Guirassy is out of form at the moment, and Borussia Dortmund boss Niko Kovač is even thinking of benching him for German Cup today.

The second round of DFB Pokal is played today and tomorrow and unlike some other clubs, Dortmund had a really tough draw as they got Frankfurt, a team which already defeated them in Bundesliga 2-0. But still, Kovač is toying with idea of benching Guirassy.
“It’s possible that Guirassy will get a short break, but we still have time to assess the match and the ones ahead. Even though he’s not scoring right now, his relentless effort and work rate on the pitch are clear, and he has my full support. Goal droughts are normal for any striker. Guirassy remains a central part of our attack and a cornerstone of the team, indispensable to Borussia plans“ said Kovac.
This season, Guinea striker has scored 4 goals in 7 Bundesliga appearances. But, his last league goal came on September 13 against Heidenheim, and he has only netted once in the Champions League. If he is rested for Frankfurt, Maximilian Beier is likely to start as a striker, or even the new acquisition Fabio Silva, who is gradually finding his rhythm at Dortmund but is not yet 100% fit.
