What Thibaut Courtois pulled off in the Champions League final is incredible in every sense of the word

He's called a keeper, although the man is a saviour - of his goal, his side, and his club's impeccable tradition.

A record-breaker.

Thibaut Courtois' performance in the Champions League final against Liverpool has been the best ever when it comes to showdowns. He made as many as nine saves, which is more than any other keeper in the finals. Also, the Belgium custodian collected 50 saves since the start of the UCL season, while, for instance, Liverpool's Alisson had only 14.

"Trust me, I can't believe what Thibaut Courtois did tonight, guys. Unbelievable," commented Carlo Ancelotti after the match.

And the man of the match himself, Courtois, firstly made a statement on the pitch and then added some more salsa in the euphoria after the game.

"I saw a lot of tweets saying I would get humbled. It was the other way round. Today I needed to win a final - for my career, for all the hard work, to put respect on my name because I don't think I have enough respect, especially in England. I saw a lot of criticism that I was not good enough or whatever.

"Thank you very much. I said at the press conference yesterday that when Madrid play in the finals, they win.

"I'm just really happy and proud of the performance of the team, and when I needed to be there, I was there for the team. We have beaten the best clubs in the world together with us. Liverpool were very strong today. I think I played a great game, and that was the difference."
