France, England trash minnows to continue successful EURO 2024 qualifiers campaign

Gibraltar and Malta are, quite frankly, the bottom drawer of European football, and Southgate's and Deschamps' teams had a relaxing day in the office

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold scored a stunning goal and assisted for another as England continued their winning start to Euro 2024 qualifiers with a 4-0 thrashing of Group C minnows Malta.

Alexander-Arnold, placed in midfield this time with the No 10 shirt, produced a player-of-the-match performance. Moreover, Harry Kane - who else - scored one, along with Callum Wilson, while Malta's defender Ferdinando Apap netted an own goal following Bukayo Saka's cross.

The victory makes it three out of three for the Three Lions after they beat Italy and Ukraine in March. England will play North Macedonia at Old Trafford on Monday, June 19.

Another big favourite, France, celebrated a comfortable 3-0 away win at Gibraltar, mostly thanks to Olivier Giroud's quick opener (just three minutes into the match) and Kylian Mbappe's late penalty in the first-half stoppage time.

Just like Malta, Gibraltar made it even worse with themselves, killing the game with an own goal in the second half.
