Emerging Stars have already hit camp in preparation for the CECAFA tourney set to be held in Ethiopia next month

Kenya U23 Emerging Stars coach Stanley Okumbi has called up four senior players to the team’s camp while making an addition of ten more players as preparations for the upcoming CECAFA Senior championships in Ethiopia gain momentum.

Ulinzi Stars' left back Harun Mwale and Wazito's Bernard Ochieng are the defensive options from the senior side while Kakamega Homeboyz's David Odhiambo and Abdallah Hassan offer senior options in attack.

Although this year’s edition has been reserved for players under the age of 23 years the participating teams will be allowed a maximum of three senior players.

AFC Leopards duo of teenage sensation Lewis Bandi and Austine Ochieng are among the ten players called up in the additional squad.

Wazito’s Musa Masika, Gor Mahia’s Frank Odhiambo and Alpha Onyango and Bandari’s Keegan Ndemi complete the list of junior players called up, most of whom were in Okumbi's team for CECAFA U20 team that did duty in Tanzania last year.

The six additional players called up have been instrumental for their teams in the league and their initial exclusion came as a surprise to many.

The team is set to depart for Ethiopia on June 30, in time for the regional showpiece that will take place between July 3, and July 18, 2021.
