Odhiambo has a wealth of experience having played in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Despite still serving a transfer embargo imposed by FIFA, Sofapaka have been on a shopping spree as they have made former Gor Mahia custodian Fredrick Odhiambo their latest addition.

Odhiambo joins Batoto ba Mungu from Wazito FC where he spent last season after joining from Gor Mahia before the start of the 2020/2021 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season.

Sofapaka released a statement on Tuesday 28 September revealing that the goalkeeper has inked a two-year deal with the club.

“We are glad to announce we have acquired the services of custodian Fredrick Odhiambo. Odhiambo joins on a two-year deal from Wazito Football Club,” read the club’s statement.

Since the arrival of Levis Opiyo in the mid-season transfer window, Odhiambo struggled for game time with the former preferred ahead of him by Francis Kimanzi.

Wazito however signed Omar Adisa from Bidco United in the offseason transfer window, further pushing Odhiambo below the pecking order.

Odhiambo will now compete for places with another one of Wazito former goalkeeper’s Kevin Omondi who was in goal in the first game of the season.

With the transfer ban, Sofapaka can sign players but they are barred from registering them but club Chairman Elly Kalekwa has vowed to have the ban lifted before the closure of the transfer window.
