However, it's not rainbows and butterflies for Genoa, as they sit only a point above the relegation zone after a poor start to the campaign that has seen the club win twice, draw four times, and lose their remaining six games.

Vieira has been jobless since getting sacked at Strasbourg a few months ago. Now, it remains to be seen if Vieira's move to Genoa will be completed in time for their next Serie A fixture against another Serie A struggler, Cagliari.
