The handover ceremony was held at the office of Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, where FKF President Hussein Mohammed signed the title deed alongside the county boss.
Mohammed viewed the milestone as a turning point for the sport, saying the project, located on the outskirts of Machakos town, would be crucial in nurturing talent, raising coaching standards, and strengthening Kenya’s national teams.
“This facility will contribute greatly to the growth and strengthening of football in Kenya. Our ambition is to see Machakos become the headquarters of FKF,” Mohammed stated.
Governor Wavinya pledged her administration’s full support, noting that the county was committed to improving sports infrastructure, including building a Level Six Hospital to serve athletes.
“We want to assure you that my administration will give you a conducive environment. This will not only benefit the people of Machakos but also Kenyans at large,” she said.
She also expressed optimism that Harambee Stars would continue to shine at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN).
As part of the new partnership, FKF donated footballs to teams participating in the third edition of the Governor Wavinya Cup, which the federation described as the beginning of a long-term collaboration with the county to nurture grassroots talent.
The planned Technical Training Centre, a FIFA-funded Ksh 600 million project, is expected to become a hub for player development, coach education, and sports science in Kenya.
Once complete, the centre will feature one natural grass pitch, two artificial turf pitches, and a fully equipped administration block with offices and conference facilities.
