The former Sofapaka forward posted his most prolific season in the last term as he finished as the league's top scorer following an impressive campaign with Murang'a Seal.

The unforgettable season saw him earn a number of accolades in the end-of-season gala, clinching the Golden Boot, Players’ Player of the Year award and a place in the Team of the Season.

The former South Sudan champions confirmed the acquisition of the prolific striker on Tuesday, 9 June, announcing that the Kenyan forward had completed his medical ahead of the transfer.

"Kenyan Premier League top scorer Joseph Waithira, popularly known as 'King Joe', has successfully passed his medical ahead of his highly anticipated transfer to the club. Welcome, King Joe, to the Guwa family," Jamus SC said in a statement.

Before his move to South Sudan, the former Sofapaka, Wazito and Bandari forward had been strongly linked with 2026 Mozzart Bet Cup finalists Kenya Police FC and record champions Gor Mahia, both of whom were reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the transfer window.

However, Jamus SC moved swiftly to secure his signature, with the transfer coming as a surprise to many observers who expected the striker to remain in Kenya's top flight or move to a more established league on the continent.

Waithira will now link up with fellow Kenyan Haniff Wesonga at Jamus SC.

The Harambee Stars defender joined the South Sudanese giants at the start of the recently concluded season and played a key role in the club's campaign.

The move presents a new challenge for Waithira as he embarks on the first foreign stint of his career.

Having established himself as one of the most consistent forwards in Kenyan football, expectations will be high for the striker to replicate his goalscoring form in South Sudan.

Having completed his medical examinations, Waithira is expected to join his new teammates in preparation for the 2026/27 season as Jamus SC strengthen their squad in pursuit of domestic and continental success.
