Two assist from Calhanoglu and five different scorers for more confidence at the top of Serie A
Nerazzurri look like the team they were last season - like champions. Salernitana were no match for Simone Inzaghi's crew who are oozing confidence lately.
Inter began the match on the front foot, motivated to keep a hold of the top spot in Serie A, controlling possession and the tempo of the match. Just over ten minutes into the game, their lightning-quick start was rewarded - Ivan Perišić headed home after getting on the end of a Hakan Çalhanoğlu corner kick.
Soon afer, Nerazzurri doubled their lead from a swift counter-attack in the 33rd minute. Edin Džeko found Denzel Dumfries in the box, and the wing-back thrashed the ball in off the crossbar.
Just six minutes into the second period, Inter picked up right where they left off. Another marvelous counterattack ended with Çalhanoğlu sending the ball ahead of Alexis Sánchez, who sent the ball inside the net from close range.
Inzaghi’s men controlled the rest of the match and saw the final 30 minutes relaxed. They even scored two more goals to via Lautaro MartÃnez and Roberto Gagliardini which were pretty much the final nails in Salernitana’s coffin.
Elsewhere, Lazio continued their solid run and claimed a confident 3-1 win against Genoa. Pedro's early opener, Acerbi header and Zaccagni's icing on the cake were more than enough for Andriy Shevchenko to leave another ground with his head hanging down.
