The former Azzurri captain is the new coach of Benevento

As many as four Serie B clubs changed their coaches on Monday. Benevento fired Fabio Caserta, Pisa said goodbye to Rolando Marano, Perugia bid farewell to Fabrizio Castori, while Giacomo Gattuso left Como due to health problems, although with three draws and three defeats in six rounds, he certainly had one foot through the exit door of the club that, with the arrival of new investors and Cesc Fabregas has high ambitions in the team.

Pisa brought back Luca D'Angelo, Como want former Torino coach Moreno Longo, Perugia wanted Silvio Baldini, whose last assignment was in Palermo, while Benevento found a solution in Fabio Cannavaro. Transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio writes that on Monday evening, the former Italian representative agreed all the details of the cooperation with the club from a place not far from his native Naples and that the cooperation will soon be official.

It will be Cannavaro's first job in Italy and in Europe in general, since so far after finishing his playing career in Al Ahli, he has only worked in Saudi Arabia and China, where he was a coach until the coronavirus pandemic broke out. Since then, he has been without engagement, although he was mentioned last winter among the candidates for the coach of the Polish national team.

Benevento won seven points in the first six rounds, and went to the international break with two consecutive defeats. It will not be easy for the world champion from 2006 to make a good result, but there is no doubt that he has chosen an environment where he will have great authority to start his European coaching career.
