Midenyo is drafted in as assistant coach at the one-time Kenyan champions.
Former Mathare United striker George 'Tompo' Midenyo is set to return to the club as an assistant coach, Mozzart Sport can exclusively report.
The bottom-placed Slum Boys recently appointed Frank Ouna as their new coach after firing Salim Ali over unsatisfactory results in the FKF Premier where the team has managed just seven points in 15 league outings.
Ouna was at the dugout when Mathare threw way a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 to KCB on Wednesday. He is now set to be joined by an ex Mathare play in Midenyo. The pair worked together at Wazito and most recently at Mt. Kenya United.

“Midenyo is joining the club as an assistant coach. He has worked with Ouna well before and he recommended that he joins the team. Midenyo is also a former Mathare player and he understands the structure and the culture of the team,” a source from the club told Mozzart Sport.
Mathare will be hoping that the youthful tactician’s return will turn the team’s fortunes around as they are currently at the risk of getting relegated from the top tier.
The Slum Boys travel to Sudi Stadium in Bungoma on Sunday where they are set to play Nzoia Sugar in a crunch clash for both teams. Just like Mathare, Nzoia lost their last match, they went down 1-0 to AFC Leopards at Ruaraka Stadium. The Millers are 14th in the log with 16 points.
