Posta Rangers is yet to lose since Michael Apudo was deployed in midfield.
Former Gor Mahia defender Michael Apudo has opened up on his new role at Posta Rangers after being deployed in midfield by head coach Stanley Okumbi.
Apudo was slotted into midfield in the game against Tusker and marshalled the middle of the pack with panache alongside his former teammate at K’Ogalo Bernard Ondiek.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Apudo revealed that his impressive performances at the heart of midfield boils down to the confidence instilled in him by Okumbi.
“Playing in a new role requires confidence from the coach, once he trusts you everything will fall into place. I have that defensive mentality because we have been conceding a lot of goals that come from the number six area,”
“Coach saw fit to shut the back as we work on getting goals upfront and it has been working in a number of games so far,” said Apudo.

The former Sony Sugar defender has added spine into the Posta midfield as he has restricted opponents to few chances as he has added a defensive shield ahead of the back four, notching clean sheets against Tusker and Bidco United.
Apudo reserved special praise for Okumbi who has switched him from a left-back into a decent defensive midfielder and is aiming to return back the favour after being handed playtime.
“Okumbi is an experienced coach, he has a lot of tactics and I feel like I’m improving as a player because he also trusts me with games which give me a lot of courage,”
“I feel that I owe him a lot and I do not want to disappoint him because I fight so hard to repay the faith that has put in me,” added Apudo.
