Ex-Man Utd coach batters Haaland in Nations League

Erling Haaland might be one of the best and the most lethal strikers in the world, but he could do nothing to prevent his national side from getting battered by former Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick's Austria destroyed Haaland's Norway 5-1 on Sunday night in the UEFA Nations League group game played at Vienna.

Haaland - who captains Norway in the absence of injured Martin Odegaard - clocked the entire 90 minutes but was far from scoring a single goal.

Despite having Alexander Sorloth next to him in the attacking line, the Manchester City forward was unable to make any serious impact. Most of the time, he was double-marked by Austrians and his Norway teammates struggled to make the most of that situation.

Sorloth did score his side's only goal, but that was about all that they did.

On the other hand, Rangnick is obviously doing a serious job with his compatriots, as Austria previously knocked Kazakhstan down 4-0. Nine goals scored and just one conceded in the last two games prove Rangnick's impressive work. They are now levelled at the top of the group, with Norway and Slovenia at seven points, and are favourites to progress to the knockout stage.

To do so too, Norwegians need their old Haaland back.
