Alexis Sanchez opens up about the infrastructure issues that are not helping his national side in a bid for a World Cup qualification
Chile has had nine World Cup appearances, winning the bronze medal in 1962, with their last two WC displays coming in 2010 and 2014. Over the years, they had some fantastic players like Marcelo Salas, Ivan Zamorano, Alexis Sanchez and many others.
Now, when as many as six South American countries will qualify directly for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the seventh-placed have their chance through playoffs against the Oceania representative, only three CONMEBOL teams won't make it to the global showpiece. And, as things stand, one of them will shockingly be none other than - Chile.

Only Peru and Bolivia are currently worse than them, with Paraguay and Ecuador levelled with Chile with only 5 points.
A part of Chile's problem probably lies in their infrastructure being awful, which Alexis Sanchez brought up these days after a goalless draw against Paraguay and ahead of the Ecuador tie.
"At Juan Pinto Duran complex, there are three showers which don't work. You have to wait until the one before you have finished. At Colo-Colo's stadium, I was sitting stretching, and from the drainage, sewage was spilling. Makes one question if this is a national team or what?" asked Sanchez.
