Xabi Alonso's team returned to the top of the table on the day Dortmund came back from two goals down to claim a win against the "other" Borussia
Borussia Dortmund bounced back from recent losses with an impressive 4-2 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach. Initially, down by two goals, Dortmund staged a quick comeback, with Marcel Sabitzer, Niclas Fullkrug, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens scoring in a thrilling first half.
That was quite a way to turn an unexpected 2-0 deficit into a lead in no time.
Dortmund dominated the second half, with chances by Fullkrug and Marco Reus, who hit the crossbar. The game concluded with Donyell Malen scoring into an empty net after Gladbach's goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas joined the attack for a last-minute corner.
Despite a shaky start, Dortmund's win boosts their confidence ahead of challenging matches against AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, and Paris Saint-Germain. On the other hand, Gladbach's unbeaten streak ends, but they still seem secure in a transitional season. The way they let a two-goal lead slip, however, will be a source of much concern for their fans.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen maintained their incredible winning run with a secure 3-0 success at Werder Bremen. It's their 13th consecutive victory in all competitions and returning to the top of the Bundesliga. Leverkusen have been dominant this season, except for Bayern Munich, with the visitors' first goal coming shortly after Boniface's effort was ruled out for offside. Alejandro Grimaldo scored Leverkusen's third goal, catching Bremen off-guard. Despite their excellent form, Leverkusen sit just two points clear of Bayern Munich.
Wolfsburg provided the biggest shock of the day by beating Champions League team RB Leipzig. After five league games without a win, Rogerio's well-placed shot makes the difference for the home team. Leipzig dominated the game for long stretches but couldn't find a way to break through the Wolves' defence.
