Enough with the process! Poch: The owners are disappointed but they should support us

"We are playing well, we just need to score," says the Chelsea coach

On one of the stands of Stamford Bridge, there is a banner: "Pride of London". The way Chelsea are playing this season - it is more of a shame of the nation's capital. The Blues have disappointed the fans again, who are losing patience and don't really understand how "a new team is in the making". They are mainly interested in the result, then the game itself, and as the results are disappointing and the performances are modest, it is logical that the coach should be the first on the firing line.

Mauricio Pochettino doesn't seem worried, even though Chelsea haven't stood worse in the table after their opening six Premier League games since 1978.

"In the first half, we deserved more. We even opened the second one well, we dominated, but when Malo Gusto was sent off, the situation changed", the Argentinean summed up his views after the defeat by Aston Villa (0-1). This result means that the Birmingham club defeated Chelsea twice in a row for the first time in three decades.

It's not just about defeat in this round. Nothing has been right since the beginning of the season, even though boss Todd Boehly has spent hundreds of millions of euros.

"Of course the owners are disappointed, but at the same time they should support the plan. As for our team and not being able to score goals, we have to work, believe in the boys and boost their confidence. We have what we have, now we need to support the players, because in the end they are on the field. They are even playing well, not great, but we lack goals. Starting from Monday, we start preparations for the next match and I think we will score at that one".

One of Chelsea's problems is that they formed a young, mentally unstable team, which does not have enough mental strength to return from difficult situations. Against Aston Villa, Malo Gusto was sent off, and Nicolas Jackson received his fifth yellow card since the beginning of the season and therefore will not play in the next game.

"The red card is our responsibility. I don't want to blame Gusto or hold a grudge against him, such things happen in football. We talk every day, we have to grow as a team. As for Jackson, he is young, still adjusting to the Premier League. When will he learn if not now while he is young. We are disappointed that such things happen to us often".

Chelsea won only once in the last ten Premier League games at Stamford Bridge.

"We had the same amount of chances as Aston Villa, but we didn't know how to convert them. Then we unfortunately conceded a goal. We have to be aware of what is happening, but at the same time stay calm, because the team is in the process, I can't blame them or say that they gave up after the 70th minute. Even with a man less on the field, we fought. I hope we can turn this situation in our favor. As soon as possible," Pochettino added, ahead of the League Cup match against Brighton on Wednesday night.
