Two giants face off in the EURO 2023 showdown

The Young Lions have been waiting for this title for 39 years, with Spain being the ultimate side they beat to reach the throne. This is their first final since 2009, when they lost 4-0 to Germany.

Today, against Spain again, England's U-21 side, led by former Everton midfielder Lee Carsley, is looking to make history and put an end to their almost four-decade-long title drought.

Emile Smith-Rowe, Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Gordon and the rest of the squad have yet to concede a goal in this tournament in Georgia and Romania.

"These four weeks has felt the most like a club we've had it in terms of team spirit, the personalities that have developed," said Carsley.

"It's a shame in that respect [that many of the team will be finished at U21 level afterwards]. One of the benefits is that there is another group waiting to come through.

"I'd like to see this group finish off this campaign with winning it. They deserve it, work so hard and are so diligent.

"We were ranked sixth, so to get to the final... to get out of the group to start with was a good achievement. The team have got maybe two or three levels to go. If they click ,it'll be a hell of a performance.

"The bigger the stage you'll see a different intensity to the team. I'm looking forward to it."

On the other hand, La Furia Roja bulldozed Mykhailo Mudryk's Ukraine 5-1 in the semifinal, making a statement ahead of the ultimate match. Albeit they don't have already established stars in their squad, unlike England, the Spaniards seem ruthless and eager to go all the way in the competition played in Romania and Georgia.
