Emerging Stars provisional squad for CECAFA tourney named

The CECAFA U23 championship will be played on Ethiopia in July

Kenya U23 head coach Stanley Okumbi has named his provisional squad for the upcoming 2021 CECAFA Senior Championship set to be held in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia from July 3-18.

Among the notable faces is Gor Mahia rookie keeper Caleb Otieno and Nairobi Stima’s Dolph Owino. The most notable omission is fast rising Gor Mahia defender Frank Odhiambo.


In defense Kakamega Homeboyz’s Sylvester Owino, Moses Mudavadi of Nzoia Sugar, and Collins Shichenje of Nzoia Sugar have all been rewarded for their good run at club level.

Marvin Nabwire of AFC Leopards, Faraj Ominde of Tusker, Sofapaka’s Ambrose Sifuna, and Nzoia Sugar duo of Daniel Musamali and Elisha Wekesa are some of the notable inclusions. Benson Omala who recently returned from Sweden, Ken Wanyonyi of Bungoma SuperStars, and Kisumu Hot-Stars hotshot Alfred Emoni are some of the attackers named in the squad.
