El Classico frenzy in Spain: a million tickets wouldn't be enough

The Spaniards face unprecedented interest in one of the greatest football derbies in the world

The significance of "El Classico" has never been doubtful, as has the interest of people all around the globe in watching that spectacle live. However, hardly anyone could have expected Real Madrid to have over a million ticket requests for the clash against Barcelona, scheduled for October 26.

More precisely, the "magical number" was 1,095,828 requests, which could surpass the 1.1 million mark already today. Given that eight days are left until the game, no one can even imagine the final count, but one thing's certain - Santiago Bernabeu will be maximally full.

The reasons for this "frenzy" are Barcelona's outstanding form under Hansi Flick and La Liga top spot (three points ahead of the Madrid giants) and Real's dream team's "El Classico" debut. Interestingly, even the situation around Kylian Mbappe did not discourage fans from attending the "holy match" of Spanish football, even though the Frenchman should find his place in the starting lineup, leading his teammates against Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and the remainder of Barca's crew.

In the meantime, both teams await matches in La Liga and the Champions League. Los Blancos face Celta in Vigo tonight (22.00) and host Borussia Dortmund (Tuesday, 22.00), while Barca play two home games, against Sevilla (Sunday, 22.00) and Bayern Munich (Wednesday, 22.00).
