The winger scored the all important equalizer that handed Harambee Stars a lifeline in the game- a goal he says he will forever cherish

Bandari FC winger Abdallah Hassan has labeled his goal against Egypt in the recent Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) Qualifier round five clash as one that will forever go down memory lane. Handed a very first start in the AFCON qualifiers by head coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee, the former Posta Rangers did not fail to deliver. And boy did he outdo himself with his brilliant link up play and purpose driven performance.

“My target in the match was to give my best and help my team win. Scoring was the least thing that came to my mind. I am happy I used the chance well when it came my way,” the winger stated.

Hassan’s eye catching display on the day culminated with the winger being in the right position at the right time. After a goal mouth scramble in the Egyptian box, Hassan had the telling touch from close range to finish the corner kick that had been floated in by Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma. That was the goal that gave Harambee Stars the lifeline but unfortunately Kenya could not build on it after being reduced to ten men. The goal however meant so much more to the coastal man.

“I am very happy about the goal because Egypt is a big team and it was the first Afcon qualifiers match that I started. It is a goal that I will always remember,” he reminisced.

Hassan has been in impressive form for the national side as he has two goals in two consecutive games. The first one against neighbours Tanzania coming a week earlier before the Egypt game. With Harambee Stars jetting out of the country today, Hassan will hope to add to his tally if entrusted with another starting berth against Togo on Monday.
