Atalanta were in front, but Inter directed a successful comeback in this five-goal thriller

Inter have made it all the way to a joint Serie A runners-up position on Sunday, at least for a couple of hours, after coming from behind to thump Atalanta 3-2 in Bergamo.

The Nerazzurri completed an excellent comeback from Ademola Lookman's penalty, mostly thanks to Edin Dzeko's brace and Jose Luis Palomino's own goal.

Stefan de Vrij was clumsy on Duvan Zapata for a penalty, which Lookman converted by blasting into the top corner for Atalanta's lead.

The visitors levelled the score through Dzeko, who netted with the outside of the boot from six yards.

Inter turned the game around completely when Dimarco swung in a ball from the left for Dzeko, as the former Manchester City target man shone again to put his side in front.

Lautaro Martinez proved instrumental for the third goal, as his header from a Calhanoglu corner was redirected from close range by Palomino trying to anticipate Dzeko.

The same player, Palomino, however, managed to make amends by scoring on the other side, too, for the final 3-2.
