His five-year tenure with Barcelona was highly successful, but there are some bizarre facts surrounding it
Current FECAFOOT president and African football legend Samuel Eto'o enjoyed more than an excellent career as a footballer. His prime was at Barcelona, where he spent five very successful seasons, winning numerous La Liga titles and the Champions League trophies.
Interestingly, during all those years, he never actually lived anywhere else but in a five-star hotel.
According to Alfonso Arus on La Sexta (via Marca), Eto'o spent his entire spell in the Catalan capital at the Hotel Arts in the Vila Olimpic neighbourhood.
The Cameroonian lived a mostly quiet life, as per Arus.
"He didn't go out late. He lived there and paid €2.6k a night," Arus said, claiming it was just Eto'o and his entourage there.
If indeed he was staying at that hotel for that long time, then he would have spent an amazing €4.75m in total.
