Dubai-based club Al-Nasr SC has officially unveiled Kenyan winger Elly Owande as their newest acquisition, clarifying that he will initially feature in the U23 setup rather than the first team during his first season.

Owande, previously with Migori Youth, completed his move last week following weeks of trials and friendly matches.

After impressing the club, he was offered a three-year contract.

“Al-Nasr Football Company signs Kenyan player Elly Owande, who will join our U-23 team in the resident category,” read the club’s official statement on Monday morning.

Details regarding the transfer between the two clubs remain undisclosed. However, Migori Youth, a Kenyan National Super League side, will be entitled to 45% of any future transfer fee should Al-Nasr sell Owande to another club.

In an earlier interview, Owande expressed his excitement about joining the Dubai club, sharing his ambitions for the future.

"This is a dream come true, and I am thrilled to join Al-Nasr. It’s a new chapter, and I’m determined to make it a successful one," he said.

He also revealed his personal target for the season, aiming to score at least ten goals.

“It’s a new adventure with high expectations, but I am confident of scoring ten goals in my first year, which is my main goal,” added the former St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale player.

Owande also expressed gratitude to his former club, Migori Youth, for their role in his development.

“I owe a lot to Migori Youth, who have nurtured me since I was nine years old. I wish them all the best as they begin the new season.”

Owande was part of the Kenya U18 squad that reached the 2023 CECAFA U18 Championship final. He also featured in the four-nation tournament final with the Kenya U20 team in March 2024 in Malawi and was part of the Kenya U23 team that competed at the COSAFA Cup in South Africa in July.
