Clubs have been operating in unusual ways lately, with various public figures becoming club owners. A similar situation is now happening at Swansea as well
American rapper Snoop Dogg has officially acquired a minority stake in Swansea City, a Championship club, just three months after Croatian international Luka Modric also joined as an investor and co-owner.
The 53-year-old music icon helped unveil Swansea's new home kit on Monday. A passionate sports fan, Snoop has previously named Celtic as his favorite club in Scotland and even expressed interest in opening a burger van at Celtic Park. Swansea has been under majority American ownership, led by Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, since November.

Modric’s involvement already sparked a spike in the club’s social media presence, and with Snoop Dogg’s nearly 89 million Instagram followers—more than double that of Modric—the global spotlight on Swansea is only set to increase.
Snoop Dogg said: "My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City. The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City. I am going to do all I can to help the club.”
Swansea City added in a statement: "Swansea City is delighted to announce global rap superstar and multi-platinum selling artist Snoop Dogg has become the club’s latest high-profile co-owner and investor."
