Diaz saves Bayern from a shocking result in Munich

Reading Time: 3min | Sat. 29.11.25. | 19:35

The Bavarians scored the winning goal against St. Pauli in the 93rd minute

Last Saturday, Bayern was host to Freiburg and ‘destroyed‘ them 6-2. But, the first two goals of the game belonged to the visitors, who were 2-0 up after only 17 minutes. Luckily for the Bavarians, they are so strong that they managed to level the score by halftime and exploded in the second part of the match. But this time around, relegation struggling St. Pauli came to Allianz Arena and defended hardy, capitalized on another Manuel Neuer‘s poor performance but eventually cracked in the 93rd minute and recorded their ninth loss in a row: Bayern Munich – St. Pauli 2-1.

Coach Vincent Kompany certainly won‘t be happy with the performance as his men played at home against one of the worst teams in Bundesliga and scored the winner in injury time. The visitors defended with a low block and created problems for Bayern attackers, but this team is very strong and eventually prevailed, mainly due to the man of the match Luis Diaz, who scored the winner and assisted with Munich‘s first goal.

As soon as the game started, the visitors scored from a first chance. It was actually a series of mistakes, which started from Laimer‘s lost possession, continued with Minjae Kim‘s poor reaction as he allowed himself to be outmuscled by Andreas Hountondji, and finished with a bad reaction from Neuer, who allowed the Benin striker to put the ball into the net in his closer corner. The Bayern keeper kept his place in the team despite bad performance against Arsenal but again failed to deliver. Luckily for him, his teammates in attack were strong enough to score near the end of the half, lust like against Freiburg. This time Raphael Guerreiro got a great assist from Luis Diaz, who was in the goal area, lost his footing but manage to pass the ball while lying on the ground. In between goals, Munich attacked and managed to hit the woodwork twice (Karl and Bischof).

In the second half, Kompany had to bring in Olise, Gnabry and Stanisic in order to score the winner but it didn‘t help. Kane had the best chance in the 70th minute after escaping the attentions of the visiting defense, but Pyrka produces a sensational block to deny the striker. The England captain missed another chance minutes later. This time, he hammered a shot towards the far corner, which rattled the inside of the post and bounced clear. But it was Luis Diaz who eventually managed to get on the score sheet in the 93rd minute and extend Bayern‘s lead over second placed Leipzig to eight points.
