DENNIS OLIECH CUP:Bragging rights and cash awards at stake as Bundes take on FIFA best in the final

Bragging rights and hefty cash awards will be at stake when FIFA Best FC and Bundes FC clash on Sunday at the Kenya School of Law, Karen in the Dennis Oliech Cup final. 

Best, who were laced with more than half a dozen players who ply their trade in the top flight cleared the semifinal hurdle by beating a highly-rated Dagoretti Hotstars by a solitary goal despite having numerical disadvantage after Jamal Edmundo was sent off.

Bundes on the other hand edged Kibera based Mashimoni 1-0 in a hotly contested match to book a date with Best in the final.

Ahead of the match, Bundes head coach Owen Kiunga says his charges are ready to silence Best and be crowned the champions of the Cup sponsored by the leading gaming firm Mozzartbet.

With the final set to be littered with experienced players, Kiunga remained tight lipped on the identity and number of top flight players he had managed to convince to feature for his side.

"We are ready to face Best in the final. We have worked on the areas which we were exposed in the semis and I am certain that we will win the Cup. I will have some senior players but i prefer their identity to be my secret until kickoff," he said.

His sentiments were backed by his goalkeeper Maxwell Mulili who doubles up as AFC Leopards fourth choice and former national U20 custodian.

"We are ready to give our best and most importantly win the Cup. It is a match i want to keep a cleansheet," said the former Kariobangi Sharks player

Best head coach Anthony Ndung'u on the other hand was also confident of laying hands on the trophy. The tactician will however have to worry of the fitness levels of his payers notably those who are drawn from Nairobi City Stars as they were in action on Saturday against Posta Rangers.

" It will be a tough match but we understand the weakness of our opponents. The boys have done well in the previous stages of the tournament and i urge them to give their best in the final," he said.

Best left back and former Kenyan international Wesley Onguso says that Bundes should brace themselves for an embarrassing defeat.

"We know our opponents well and have studied their playing style. I have a feeling that we will by more than three goals," said the City Stars player.

The champion will pocket Ksh 300 000 while the losing finalist will bank Ksh 200 000.
