Defeat for Oburu and Calabar in Zambia as Mandela misses action in South Africa

Former Harambee Stars captain David ‘Calabar’ Owino and compatriot Vincent Oburu were on the receiving end of a defeat following Napsa Stars’ 2-1 fall to Nkwazi in a Zambian Super League match played at Nkoloma Stadium on Saturday.

Calabar warmed the bench in the game while Oburu, who is on loan from Zesco United, was named in the starting team.

Nkwazi took the lead in the 13th minute through Simon Mulenga who converted from the spot with their second goal coming in the 28th minute.

Daniel Adoko netted the consolation goal for Napsa in the 45th minute.

While Oburu and Calabar were in the match-day squad, their compatriots; Jesse Were and Ian Otieno missed Zesco United’s barren draw against Forest Rangers at the Dolla Hill Stadium.

Kenyan trio suffer defeat at hands of Simba in Tanzania

The situation was similar for Kenyan international Brian Mandela in South Africa as he was overlooked in Mamelodi Sundowns’ 1-0 win over Stellenbosch at the Athlone Stadium.

The centre-back wasn’t on the list of players who missed the match due to injury fueling speculation over his future at Masandawana.
