The club's sporting director was asked about the possibility of brining the Argentinian forward back
Barcelona fans would love to see Lionel Messi in the shirt of their beloved club at least one more time. But that is unlikely to happen—perhaps only in a testimonial match someday. Barcelona’s sporting director Deco spoke about the topic for Cadena SER and said that the chances of Messi returning to Barca are practically nonexistent.
🚨🎙️| Deco: "Ronaldinho, Messi or Cristiano? I played with Messi and Cristiano at the start of their careers. If I have to choose, I choose Ronaldinho because he was at his peak. However, I think the most complete player is Messi." #fcblive pic.twitter.com/FZyfRzfQ0V

“I don’t think it’s possible for Messi to return, because he is under contract with Inter Miami, and that’s why we haven’t even considered that option. Leo is always Leo and he could certainly still contribute on the pitch: he is a great player, but we really haven’t talked about it. Everything that’s being discussed is just speculation” said Deco.
The Portuguese official added that he was not surprised that the fans chanted Messi’s name for a full ten minutes during the return match at Camp Nou.
“Leo will have an influence at Barcelona for the rest of his life. For me, he is the best player in the club’s history, alongside Johan Cruyff and Ronaldinho. All of that is normal—this generation does not forget Messi.”
Barcelona’s sporting director also added that it is unnecessary to compare Messi and Lamine Yamal.
“They are different, in different phases of their careers. Both are advanced in terms of their perception of the game. Leo grew up in an environment where he didn’t have pressure or the need for the spotlight, because his time had not yet come, while Lamine is maturing under different circumstances, during a period of club reconstruction. Messi built his path gradually—I watched him when he was in the B team, and even then he was impressive” Deco concluded.
