The Spaniard signs a one-year contract with option to extend for another season

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea signed a one-year contract with the Serie A side Fiorentina, with the option to extend it for another year.

The 33-year-old had been without a club for over a year since his contract with Manchester United expired in June 2023.

Before agreeing on personal terms with Fiorentina, he was in talks with several Serie A sides, including Genoa and Monza.

The Spaniard underwent his medical on Friday in Florence and put pen to paper on the deal.

De Gea made 415 Premier League appearances and 55 in the Champions League.
