In the opening round of Serie A, last season’s runners-up have already bared their teeth, signaling a fierce assault on the title

Due to the very start of the season, lack of cohesion, and other factors, teams usually don’t score many goals in their opening matches. That doesn’t seem to apply to Inter Milan, who thrashed Torino and showed exactly what can be expected from them this season.

Inter made a bright start to their Serie A opener against Torino, creating chances right from the first minute. Marcus Thuram rose well to meet a cross with a powerful header, but his effort sailed just over the bar.

In the 14th minute, Lautaro Martinez came close after latching onto a perfectly weighted pass inside the box, only to fire wide of the right post. Just two minutes later, Petar Sucic nearly doubled the pressure on Torino when his shot from the edge of the area narrowly cleared the crossbar.

Inter’s dominance paid off in the 18th minute. Alessandro Bastoni met Nicolo Barella’s pinpoint corner, directing his header into the ground and past the keeper at the right post to open the scoring at 1–0. The goal is HERE!

The Nerazzurri struck again in the 36th minute. Sucic turned provider with a clever pass to Thuram, who finished clinically into the bottom-left corner to make it 2–0. You can see goal HERE!

Before the break, Inter nearly added a third as Sucic once more tested the goalkeeper with a low strike from close range in the 42nd minute, but the Torino keeper pulled off a fine save to deny him.

Inter continued their dominance after the break, immediately threatening in the 49th minute when Marcus Thuram slalomed past several Torino defenders before sending his shot narrowly wide of the right post.

Just three minutes later, Lautaro Martinez pounced on a defensive mistake and calmly slotted home from close range to make it 3-0.

Inter nearly struck again in the 58th minute as Benjamin Pavard unleashed a volley from inside the box, but Franco Israel produced a brilliant save to deny him.

Torino responded shortly after with Zakaria Aboukhlal weaving his way forward and testing the keeper with a powerful effort, but Inter’s defense held firm.

The punishment for Torino came almost instantly—Alessandro Bastoni whipped in a superb cross, and Marcus Thuram was in the right place to tap into an empty net for 4-0 in the 62nd minute. The goal is HERE!

Inter didn’t let up. In the 72nd minute, Henrikh Mkhitaryan came close with a strike that rolled just wide of the post. But seconds later, Ange-Yoan Bonny capped off the move started by Lautaro Martinez, finishing coolly inside the box to make it 5-0. You can see the goal HERE!
