City Stars bless Bolton's move back to Tanzania

Nairobi City Stars have wished left-back Bolton Omwenga all the best after confirming that the defender will be joining Tanzania Premiership side Kagera Sugar after a successful stint with the league returnees.

Club CEO Patrick Korir confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Kagera Sugar and have thus released the defender to link up with his new club ahead of the new season, wishing the player well in his new challenge.

Korir heaped praises on Omwenga, noting that he has been a good servant at City Stars and was very instrumental in their season performance since joining the team, and thus they were releasing him in good faith.

“We have reached an agreement with Kagera Sugar and therefore agreed to release him from his contract to allow him [to] pursue a different challenge on the other side. He was a very good servant and very key to our performance. Though we would have wished to keep him for longer, it was also important to allow him [to] take up a good offer. He has our blessings to move on and we wish him the very best.” Korir told the Club's portal.

Bolton joined City Stars in February 2021 from Biashara United for a season and a half and was key to City Stars' top ten premier league finish.

Since joining the club, Omwenga has made 22 appearances for Simba wa Nairobi, managing to play full minutes in 20 games.

He scored in two instances against Mathare United and Ulinzi Stars and went on to set up three other goals against Sofapaka, AFC Leopards, and Posta Rangers.

His stellar performance for the season has seen him get recalled to the Harambee Stars provisional squad that is preparing for the World Cup Qualifiers set to be played starting next week.

Bolton Omwenga bids City Stars goodbye as he heads to Tanzania

At Kagera Sugar, Omwenga will be reuniting with Kenyan coach Francis Baraza who was at Buiashara United during his stint with the Tanzanian side.
