After Harry Kane and Jack Grealish, Manchester City are determined to strenghten their ranks with a talented defender

Manchester City are interested in Chelsea right-back Reece James and have added him to their shortlist, The Athletic reported on Saturday.

City's boss Pep Guardiola praises the 21-year-old defender and wants to strengthen his team with the versatile English international.

However, The Athletic claim that Chelsea are unwilling to sell James, who has four years left on his deal at Stamford Bridge.

James' versatility, which allows him to play in the heart of defence and midfield, is another trait that City are understood to appreciate.
