A €12m buyout option will not be activated despite early flashes
No one saw that coming...
According to journalist Romain Molina, AS Monaco have already decided not to keep the on-loan Barcelona forward Ansu Fati beyond this season, opting against activating the €12 million purchase option included in his loan deal.
Monaco ne veut déjà plus d'Ansu Fati (quelle surprise dis donc...)

Last year, everything pointed to a reset. Monaco believed they had found the perfect environment for a prodigy in need of calm, continuity and confidence. The arrival of Ansu Fati generated genuine excitement, and for a while, that optimism felt justified.
After a carefully managed adaptation period, the winger responded. Goals followed. Sharpness returned. Monaco saw flashes of the Ansu Fati who once lit up Europe: lighter, quicker, decisive in the final third. Ligue 1 suited his rhythm, and his movement gave the team an extra edge during the opening months of the campaign.
For a moment, this looked like a rebirth.
Then came the shift. Small physical setbacks interrupted his momentum, and the real turning point arrived on the bench. The appointment of Sebastien Pocognoli changed the internal balance of the squad, and with it, Ansu's role.
Minutes dried up. Starts disappeared. The Barcelona loanee has not started a match since November 22 and has not featured at all since November 29, accumulating just 598 minutes across Ligue 1 and the Champions League. Despite feeling fit and ready, he slipped down the pecking order, and Monaco's technical staff no longer view him as part of their medium-term plans.
The conclusion is clear: Monaco will not buy him.
Ansu remains under contract at Barcelona until 2028. If he returns next year, he will still have a shirt at Camp Nou, but not clarity. Once again, his future hangs in the balance, caught between promise, circumstance and the search for the right place to restart.
