There is a slightly possibility that the European governing body will chance its decision
Barcelona was working tirelessly to ensure that renovated Nou Camp could be ready for more La Liga games and especially for the Champions League duels, which would generate even more revenue for the club. But the Catalans failed and now they are forced to play the whole group stage in the Champions League at the other stadium in Barcelona – Montjuic. It’s nothing new as the Spanish giant played there last season as well, but the problem is that UEFA is not allowing the change of venue in the Champions League and the club is expecting that Camp Nou will be open soon.
The club still hasn't received the necessary licenses to open the stadium, so the board was looking for solutions. First they decided to host Valencia and Getafe (this week) at the Johan Cruyff stadium capacity only 7000, but they were lucky for the Champions League, as they were traveling to Newcastle in the first round. But now, they had to make a decision and since the Camp Nou is not ready, the announced they will host PSG and Real Sociedad at the Montjuic. And they have appealed with UEFA to let them to change venues when the stadium is finally ready. According to Marca, UEFA is currently evaluating the matter and should provide a definitive response to the Catalan club shortly. It should be noted that Barcelona, by requesting this change, is not seeking any sporting advantage , and that is precisely the spirit of the rule. If it changes stadiums, it is only because the construction work has not been completed. UEFA established this rule to prevent a team from changing venues and benefiting from a specific opponent, whether due to the condition of the pitch or a much larger capacity.
