The club is hoping to strengthen its financial muscle and join a competitive league in future for the purpose of exporting more talents

A few social media users, including Brian Odhiambo, a man who has dedicated everything in his tank to cover the National Super League (NSL) and other lower tiers for Mozzart Sport, have always spoken highly of Butere town.

You could easily conclude, or get convinced, that the town is in line to be conferred city status if you keenly interact with the posts shared by Odhiambo and his fellow townfolks on their vibrant social media handles.

'Visit Butere' and 'Butere is heavy' are the most common tag lines consistently used in their posts, even when critics offer contrary opinions on the status of infrastructure and development in the town.

Their claim that 'Butere is heavy' is not far from the truth, if the football talent the area has produced over the years and the young men coach Dickson Opuka is moulding at Eshienjera are anything to go by.

The club, which has a rich history of scouting young players and elevating them to their next phase of their careers, is home to dozens of footballers, with Odhiambo proudly identifying himself as an old boy.

Although the outfit primarily features in tournaments, solid plans to elevate it to a more structured and competitive league are in the pipeline.

The vision to expose the players to regular and competitive football received a shot in the arm after the leading gaming firm, Mozzart Bet, handed over full kits and footballs.

Opuka has his lieutenants marched to the Ebukhokoro Primary School's Grounds to receive and try the goodies delivered by Mozzart Bet under their game-changing initiative, New Jersies for New Champions.

"We extend our appreciation to Mozzart Bet for considering and supporting us with these essential sporting gear. Their kind gesture will definitely boost the morale of our players, most of whom have ambitions to rise to the Premier League and beyond," said Opuka.

Eshienjera is a community-owned team founded in 1990. The team plays home matches at Ebukhokoro Primary School's field.
