The dreadlocked attacker has started the last three games for the defending champions
Tusker FC youngster Eric Zakayo has set his focus on cementing his place in the team’s starting eleven on a regular basis after being handed rare starts in the brewer’s last three games.
Having been given his first start of the 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season in matchday 13 against Vihiga Bullets at home, the youth team graduate went on to make further starts against Bullets away and against Bandari in their latest league outing.
Zakayo, while relaying his gratitude to head coach Robert Matano who entrusted him with the starting berths in the team says he wants to enjoy more playing time going forward.
“It was a really great feeling and I thank God for the minutes I have been granted. I also thank the coach because he really pushed me in training. Despite not getting a chance, I did not take it negatively and I was patient. I kept working hard and doing extra training on my own as I waited for my chance because I knew it would come,” the player is quoted on the club’s website.
“When it came I took it with both hands, I feel motivated because there are many good players in the team and when you are given a chance, you have to prove and show that you deserve it by playing well and helping the team get more points,” Zakayo remarked.
Another day to watch this son of soil Erick Zakayo. Dreams bana.

“The more you play, the more confidence you get and so far after the two games, I feel more determined and hungrier. I will keep doing my best to create and also if chances come, score goals as well. Scoring builds confidence,” he stated.
Currently, the Brewers find themselves in 9th place ten points behind current log leaders Kakamega Homeboyz who have 33 points and have played an extra game.
