Borussia win and Frank gets the sack
Reading Time: 3min | Tue. 20.01.26. | 14:30
The situation in Tottenham is tense and the coach could be removed from his position in case he loses
Borussia win and Frank gets the sack - It‘s simple as that. Tottenham boss is currently out of favor as the team‘s form is simply unacceptable, but somehow, he survived the home loss to relegation battlers West Ham. ‘Sacked in the morning‘ was the song of the day from both set of fans. It was a proper toxic atmosphere at home, as both Thomas Frank and his players were greeted by fan protests before kick-off, and a chorus of boos after the final whistle. So far, Tottenham board has not sacked the Dane manager, which means a game with Dortmund tonight is his last opportunity. The only question is will a draw against Borussia be enough to keep him in the dugout, or if a win is a minimum for not getting sacked.

Surely, considering the amount of investment in the club this season and the current plight, any other manager would already be sacked. But, according to The Times, the lack of options of a replacement is a concern for Spurs. The likes of Xabi Alonso, Mauricio Pochettino and Andoni Iraola will not be on the market until the end of the season, and there is a chance that new assistant John Heitinga could be a temporary boss if all permanent options remain unavailable.
With only three wins in their last 10 games (the last one being in 2025), Tottenham are in deep crisis while Dortmund has only one defeat from the same number of games, and even that one came in the Cup. The toxic home atmosphere from the last match will surely repeat in case of another loss, and especially if the guests score first. The other problem for Frank is the number of absentees, either through injury or suspension. Players like Conor Gallagher (ineligible), Mathys Tel, Bissouma (unregistered) Micky van de Ven (suspended), or Ben Davies, Archie Gray, Pape Matar Sarr, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Joao Palhinha and James Maddison (who are injured) will not be available tonight.
