Borussia Dortmund continues their strong start to the new season, both in the league and in Europe – today they secured a 1-0 home win over Wolfsburg

Given how the match started for the home side, many might have expected Borussia to beat Wolfsburg more convincingly. Still, a win is a win, and Dortmund won’t mind as they climb back into second place.

Borussia Dortmund went into halftime with a 1-0 lead over Wolfsburg after an eventful first half at Signal Iduna Park. Wolfsburg had the first look in the 8th minute when Vinicius Souza’s header from the center of the box went just wide following a cross from Moritz Jenz. Ten minutes later, Mohamed Amoura tried his luck with a powerful strike, but it flew high over the bar.

Then came the breakthrough in the 20th minute. Karim Adeyemi picked up the ball and unleashed a thunderous effort from long range, sending it into the net off the inside of the right post, leaving Kamil Grabara rooted to the spot and shaking his head in disbelief. The goal is HERE!

Adeyemi nearly struck again in the 28th minute, but his first-time shot lacked accuracy and drifted wide. Dortmund continued to press, and in the 34th minute Maximilian Beier connected with a header from a Julian Ryerson cross, only to see it miss the target by inches.

Beier threatened again late in the half, picking up the ball and slaloming through the defense before firing a shot straight down the middle, but Grabara produced a brilliant save to deny him. With chances on both sides, Dortmund held their narrow advantage thanks to Adeyemi’s wonder strike.

The second half began with Borussia Dortmund looking to extend their lead, and in the 47th minute Maximilian Beier rose above the defense with a strong header toward the top corner, only to be denied by a sharp save from Kamil Grabara.

Wolfsburg grew into the game and came agonizingly close to equalizing in the 59th minute. Mohamed Amoura connected with a free-kick delivery and powered a header toward goal, but his effort rattled the crossbar instead of finding the net.

Maximilian Arnold then tested Gregor Kobel from distance in the 67th minute, but the Dortmund goalkeeper made a comfortable save to preserve his team’s narrow advantage.

In the 76th minute, Nmecha found himself in a good position and headed the ball, but the visiting goalkeeper managed to save it.
